South Dublin Chamber held its annual Business Awards at the Maldron Hotel, Tallaght in October 2023. The black-tie event, hosted by Irish radio and television personality Marty Whelan, celebrated showcased, and acknowledged all that is good in business in South Dublin County. Media Mill was hired to create a fun and engaging highlight reel and captured the glitz and the glam of the night.
As with all live events, Media Mill engaged with both the client and the suppliers involved with facilitating the event to ensure that all the key moments of the Business Awards could be captured seamlessly.
South Dublin Chamber initially approached Media Mill for photo coverage of the Business Awards, which would be the first in-person iteration following the pandemic. After further discussions, it was decided that a video highlight reel featuring vox pops with attendees, as well as photo coverage, would better serve to showcase the event.
Media Mill had several meetings with the South Dublin Chamber event team to gauge the event running order and develop a video shooting schedule and shot list. Media Mill also met with the Maldron Hotel event team and AV company to co-ordinate the technical details of audio and video capture. As well as capturing the video highlight reel, Media Mill arranged the hire of an additional photographer to work alongside us on the night so that both the video and photo collateral would be captured simultaneously to the highest standard.
Over the course of the night, Media Mill captured multiple vox pop interviews with event sponsors, award nominees, and the event planners. Along with capturing candid moments of the general atmosphere and attendee interactions, Media Mill recorded all speeches and award presentations, showcasing the entirety of the night’s celebrations.
Working with the key stakeholders at South Dublin Chamber, the post-production phase involved highlighting key snippets of the various vox pops, whilst giving equal prominence to event sponsors and attendees. The reel was edited to the beat of an energetic music track to reflect the joyous nature of the event, and ensure a quick engaging flow to the overall video. Subtitles were added for ease of accessibility on social media.
The highlight reel captured the glitz and glam of the Business Awards, receiving multiple re-posts on social media from event attendees and sponsors. The video will also serve as a key piece of marketing collateral for future Business Awards, encouraging sponsor participation.
