2024 was a whirlwind year for Media Mill, packed with exciting projects, fascinating conversations, and even a few new ventures. We had the privilege of capturing some remarkable moments throughout the year, from conferences and interviews to branching into the world of live streaming.
So, before we dive into 2025, let’s hit rewind and highlight some of the standout moments of the past year!
Conference Videos & Livestreams
Across 2024, Media Mill had the opportunity to capture some interesting conferences and interviews.
In February, we kicked things off with a visit to UCD, where we filmed an interview with Caryn Mandabach, the Executive Producer of Peaky Blinders – hearing her insights on the TV production industry was fascinating.
As Spring rolled around, Media Mill was hired for an ambitious project for the Royal Irish Academy and Notre Dame University, filming a series of panel discussions for the ARINS project (Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South). This initiative brought together leading figures from across the island to share their unique perspectives, including Northern Irish visual artist Colin Davidson, Irish football legend Pat Fenlon, and Naomi Long, the Minister of Justice for Northern Ireland. As someone with a keen interest in politics, it was very interesting to see these conversations unfold and hear new opinions.
Autumn also saw us continuing to collaborate with the Royal Irish Academy to film the Discourse Series, a set of interviews exploring how AI is reshaping industries like engineering, healthcare, and democracy. A personal highlight? Filming Mark Little, CEO of Kinzen, and Sophie in ’t Veld, a former Member of the European Parliament, as they shared their thoughts on technology’s role in shaping the future of politics.
But 2024 wasn’t just about interviews and panel discussions—it was also the year Media Mill levelled up. We expanded our services to include live streaming, taking on projects for the Irish Red Cross and the Research Cultures Conference 2024 at the Royal Irish Academy.
These livestream projects pushed us to learn new skills and embrace new challenges. As we head into 2025, we’re excited to take these lessons forward.
Testimonial & Promo Videos
Another highlight of 2024 for Media Mill was the opportunity to work with Aqua Libra, capturing a series of testimonial videos that showcased their work installing water dispenser taps in some of Ireland’s most luxurious hotels.
Filming these testimonials at the Gleneagle & Brehon Hotels in Killarney and the Galgorm Resort and Spa in Antrim gave us a front-row seat to how sustainability is shaping the future of hospitality.
For those unfamiliar with Aqua Libra, they are all about making hydration smarter, cleaner, and better for the planet. Their water dispenser systems are designed to provide chilled, sparkling, or boiling water at the touch of a button, reducing the reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
We loved capturing how their Aqua Libra taps are now providing guests at The Gleneagle & Brehon Hotels and Galgorm Resort and Spa with a seamless way to fill reusable bottles. These hotels are now not only offering guests a more convenient hydration solution but also playing a key role in tackling the problem of plastic waste.
Shooting these testimonial videos was a great reminder of the power of visual storytelling. We were grateful for the chance to work with Aqua Libra and hotels that are setting the bar for sustainable hospitality.
Event Highlights
Media Mill captured a lot of events in 2024! From inspiring students to celebrating business excellence, the year gave us countless opportunities to tell stories through video.
In January, we kicked things off with a trip to Trinity College Dublin, where we filmed the Inspire event as part of the Trinity Access Programme. This initiative, designed to introduce Transition Year students to the possibilities of higher education, was as energizing as it was impactful. It was great to capture students stepping onto the Trinity campus, engaging with workshops, talks, and interactive activities.
October rounded out our year of event coverage with a touch of glitz and glamour as we filmed the South Dublin Chamber Awards. Held to celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses in South Dublin, the event was a vibrant showcase of innovation and entrepreneurship. From capturing the excitement of winners taking the stage to the lively camaraderie among attendees, the night was proof that local businesses are the backbone of our communities.
Social Media Content
2024 was a year of creative storytelling for Media Mill, and some of our favorite projects involved working with clients to produce engaging video series tailored for specific audiences. From tax tips to TikTok, we covered it all!
In January, we had the pleasure of filming and editing the Tax Tips series with Paul Molloy, a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and the owner of BoxCleverTax.ie. Tax may not always be the most exciting topic (let’s be honest, nobody wakes up excited to discuss deductions), but Paul brought a fresh, approachable style to the series that made complex concepts easy to understand. Filming these videos was a masterclass in finding the balance between clarity and creativity, ensuring the content was as engaging as it was informative. Whether it was simplifying VAT or navigating self-assessment deadlines, this series proved that tax advice doesn’t have to be taxing!
In February, we joined forces with the marketing agency, Squaredot, to create a series of social media videos. Known for their expertise in inbound marketing, Squaredot needed content that would resonate with their digitally savvy audience. Working closely with their team, we crafted videos that were snappy, polished, and on-brand.
May saw us tackling an entirely different subject as we filmed and edited a series of patient information videos for Jason Briody, a Registered Osteopath and founder of Naas Osteopaths. These videos were designed to educate patients about the treatment process, showcasing Jason’s expertise and approachable manner. From explaining the benefits of osteopathy to walking viewers through a typical consultation, the series aimed to make potential patients feel informed and comfortable.
As Autumn rolled around, we shifted gears again, working with KennCo Insurance in September to create a series of short, punchy videos for their TikTok and Instagram accounts. Insurance might not seem like the most natural fit for social media trends, but these videos proved otherwise. We focused on creating content that was to the point and packed with practical tips, perfectly tailored to younger audiences scrolling on TikTok and Instagram. Seeing the positive engagement these videos received was a testament to the power of meeting audiences where they are—and speaking their language.
Each of these projects reflected a different tone and audience, but they all shared one goal: connecting people with meaningful content in a way that’s engaging, approachable, and impactful.
Growing our Videography Network
In 2024 Media Mill was delighted to collaborate with other videographers and offer our services as crew members on a number of exciting projects.
We had the pleasure of collaborating with a number of talented videographers during 2024, including David Kenny of Green Road Film and Paul McDermot of Social Video HQ, who in turn put us in touch with other operators in their networks.
It was fantastic to be able to work with these videographers and grow our network of trusted colleagues in the industry. I really look forward to continuing with this collaborative work in the years to come.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As 2024 draws to a close, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our clients. This year was a journey of creativity, collaboration, and growth, and we couldn’t have done it without the trust of the amazing businesses and organisations we worked with. From filming inspiring educational events to crafting engaging social media campaigns, every project was a chance to learn, innovate, and tell stories that matter.
If there’s one thing 2024 reinforced for us, it’s the power of adaptability. Whether exploring new formats like live streaming, tailoring content for platforms like TikTok, or diving into diverse industries—from hospitality to cyber security—we’ve learned that staying flexible and embracing change is the key to creating impactful, meaningful video content.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue bringing our video production expertise to clients big and small, helping you share your stories with the world. We’re also thrilled to be expanding into new areas, including podcast production—a natural next step for us. Stay tuned for more details coming in January 2025!
Here’s to a new year of creativity, growth, and collaboration. Thank you for making 2024 unforgettable, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll create together in 2025!
